REDLANDS, Calif. – The Redlands Community Hospital Foundation has received a $24,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation to upgrade the information systems programs by adding more modern remote technology for hospital physicians.
“This grant upgrades our current system, which enables physicians who are not on the hospital’s campus to obtain health information remotely on their patients,” said Redlands Community Hospital’s director of information systems, Richard Gagnon. “This is part of a long term project that the hospital is undertaking to provide better communication and better healthcare to the community.”
The $24,000 grant will be used to help purchase the Aventail device hardware and communications technology system. With this new device, Redlands Community Hospital physicians will be able to see a patient’s record anytime, day or night, and will provide up-to-date information on a patient’s condition, with the highest security.
Healthcare IT managers and industry experts expect the demand for secure remote access to continue to grow, according to the Aventail website. Driving this growth is the mobility of physicians and healthcare workers, regulatory pressures on security and privacy, the government push for digitalization of healthcare, and the continued need to control IT costs. Healthcare providers need a solution that offers the flexibility of anywhere access, with the ensured security to handle the risks that access introduces. Leading healthcare providers depend on Aventail’s appliances and managed services to stay ahead of government mandates and to deliver better patient care, attract quality physicians, comply with government regulations, and reduce administrative costs.
“We are fortunate to once again partner with Verizon” said Zachary Tucker, President of the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation. “Verizon understands the value of advanced communication technology and what it means to the patients and physicians we serve at RCH.”
The entire project is estimated to cost more than $60,000. The hospital will pay for the remainder of the grant to fund the entire upgrade.
“We have more than 200 physicians that will benefit from the Aventail communications system,” adds Gagnon. “The new communications technology is safe, controlled, and part of a secure environment that meets federal and state privacy laws.”
By providing secure anywhere access to specialists, healthcare organizations can provide patients with expert medical care in an efficient manner. For more information about Redlands Community Hospital, please visit http://redlandshospital.org
